The MA-EL accepts applications twice a year. Late applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Gather your transcripts, purpose statement, references, and writing sample to finalize admission.
What You’ll Need
Full Application Checklist
After your inquiry, Matthew will walk you through each of these components. You may submit items separately.
- Completed application form
- Purpose statement: 500–1,000 words explaining how the MA-EL fits with your educational and professional goals
- Official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution
- Two letters of academic or professional reference and one letter of personal reference
- Academic writing sample or sample of professional work
